Limit Orders

How a limit order puts you in control of price, why it might not fill, and how buy limits and sell limits are used in real trading plans.

Price control

A limit order sets the worst price you are willing to accept. A buy limit at $50 will only fill at $50 or lower. A sell limit at $60 will only fill at $60 or higher. You get price control, and in return you give up the guarantee of a fill.
