Morning & Evening Stars
Three-candle reversal patterns that show a trend losing steam, how to recognize them, and why the third candle matters most.
A three-candle story
Single candles and two-candle patterns show a moment of rejection. Morning and evening stars take one more step: they show a trend running, pausing and then reversing, all in three sessions. Because they need more evidence to form, many traders treat them as more meaningful than a lone hammer or shooting star.
Both patterns have the same structure. A strong candle in the direction of the trend, a small-bodied candle that shows indecision (the star), and a strong candle in the opposite direction that confirms the turn.
